>my art career ruined

Wrong.

You'll survive, just don't ever leave money where she can find it ever again.

I know a person like that too, he comes into the place I work and treats me like his therapist (sometimes several times a day; a real pain in my ass), he confessed to me that he's lost at least $20,000 in casinos throughout the state we live in. What a ludicrous "hobby", even though he's annoying as hell I can't help but feel sorry for him.

That's not so bad-unless you live in the Balkans or Philippines or something I suppose; was that all money from $10 commissions or something like that? If you're in the U.S. you can make that kind of money over the course of a couple months at just about any normal job-assuming your mom is footing the rest of the bills (which must be the case considering this scenario, correct?)

I've gone through financial setbacks myself. Whether it was big loans to friends never paid back ($7,000-six years or so later and that still hurts. Was about a years' worth of my disposable income, then), foolish purchases in general or more recently 'gofundme' unfortunately (one friend's mom shattered her leg in a fall and another has leukemia). Don't worry too much about money itself because it's not going to make or break you or any of us-at least not in art. While you will want to upgrade your equipment as soon as possible judging from your photo, whether you get good or not has nothing to do with what's in your bank account.

You have your whole life ahead of you, don't let a setback like this stop you from pursuing your dream-we all go through them at one time or another. Also, try not to hate your mom, she obviously needs psychological help.

Which is better to invest time into learning (and maybe purchasing), TVPaint or ToonBoom? Is ToonBoom still the industry standard?

I was thinking of messing with TVP because it has bitmap drawing but now TB has that as an option too.

>The artist retains exclusive copyright to the artwork but gives permission for it to be printed as part of the card game.

So you mean, just like if I were to draw something for myself...but instead I'm drawing something for you, and giving you permission to print it on a card game. In lieu of payment, I'd be compensated with a to-be-determined percentage of whatever net profit that's to be set aside for royalties which will be split between me and 79 other people.

Sounds like a real "win-win"...where do I sign up?

Again, you ding-dong ass nigga, 3D is an aesthetic and a "tool", it's not a "technique", the animation "techniques" are timing, squash, stretch and the like. 3D doesn't bring any unique animation techniques to the table on its own, these things were all discovered by the 2D animators.

Why did the Princess and the Frog which was a wonderfully animated film (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY1TlxJORik)) cost only 2/3rds as much to produce as Frozen if the process is so much cheaper and easier?

http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052748704746304574508552919095862

>Disney didn't exactly strike pay dirt with its new all-computers, all-the-time approach. The studio's first fully computer-animated feature, 2005's "Chicken Little," posted a middling $135 million at the domestic box office, and 2008's "Bolt" earned $114 million domestically. Production costs for films animated by hand or by computer _tend to be comparable_.

>The decision to use nearly photorealistic computer imagery, instead of the more impressionistic traditional technique, is _mostly a matter of aesthetic calculations_. Executives involved in making "Princess" say it cost slightly less than its original budget, which they declined to disclose.

If Toon Boom existed at the time the Thief and the Cobbler would have been done in 3 years. No one here is a luddite, we're not saying that paper and cells are a better way for fug's sake. I appreciate that we live in a time when the software available allows us to integrate the two in creative and aesthetically pleasing ways.

Saying that 3D is "easy" is an insult to 3D animators as well. The learning curve for 3D and its application has its own hurdles. I may prefer 2D animation but I know better than to shit in another artist's cornflakes. Merida from Brave's hair took six months to produce on its own.

>or try to "relate" like how you just tried to lol

If you look at all of your interactions with others through that lens of "they're just doing x because I'm black whether it's good or bad lol" you're going to have a bad time my man, try and relax on that shit, I can imagine it's hard though because I guarantee there is at least some truth to it a lot of the time. A big reason why a lot of white people or others may not appear to be comfortable around you is because academia and the media race bait as hard as possible, too. It's hard to level and relax with someone when you have "OY VEY YOU AND YOUR AWFUL PEOPLE PERSECUTED THIS POOR MAN FOR 6 MILLION YEARS AND YOU'RE STILL DOING IT TODAY HOW CAN YOU LIVE WITH YOURSEEEEELF!" rattling in your skull all day. Also it's notable that a lot of people have genuinely had bad experiences interacting with other groups (https://www.youtube.com/v/9CGxDk4Hsks ; https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2013/crime-in-the-u.s.-2013/tables/table-43
) and they do develop prejudices as a consequence, which unfortunately becomes a burden that a lot of completely innocent and good natured people have to bear.

>Dat stage-left hand and foot tho fam

Keep in mind the thumb doesn't go much higher than the base of the index finger when compressed to the side of the hand and you have to consider that spatial relationship when you draw the thumb extended or in any position really.

Also her right arm, at least the part before the elbow, is much thicker than her left. I think her hairstyle kind of pressured you into drawing more of the bottom of her arm but if you kind of "look through" it you should be able to feel me nigga.

Lovin' the tiddy and the donk tho real talk
