/ic/ - Artwork/Critique

So I just started about two - three days ago, using Keys to Drawing ( and looked at a bit of Drawing on the Right side of the Brain ) and I'm really stuck on chapter 3.
I'm having difficult with proportions, and I really don't understand how to use the pencil sighting technique. When I try it and convert it on paper, I feel like I miss the mark by a lot. Also, I tried not to use any symbol drawings, but looking at the comparisons of what I did, guess I ended up using some symbol drawings, maybe by habit or something...

I just want to make it. ;_;
