I think you're just scrutinizing it because you know it's a western production. I'm willing to admit the western part is influencing the final look somewhat, but it's not as if you can't find characters that look exactly like this in generic anime. It's like when Tim Lochner etc is posted and someone inevitably claims they can "tell" he's a westerner, because they already know he is. Complete horseshit, his shit is indistinguishable from any native pixiv artist at this point. Anime covers a range of styles, it isn't one single look.
