Here I tried to show an example where nose looks long but actually is only 1/3 of the face. It just seems like it's long because the tip curves over the root of the nose, and he has this long wrinkles above his nose pointing upward, seemingly continuing his nose ridge up to his forehead. It's just an illusion.

Especially many old men have this seemingly long, large nose, but the connection points are the same. And having large tip of the nose pushing downwards doesn't really push your lips down the face and jawline longer, it just obscures the are between upper lip and nose.
