I've never understood the argument of "well he can do what he wants so people should shut up". That's not how it works. Everyone can do what they want, he is free to sell out and make shit paintings, and people are likewise free to criticize him and his artwork.

strawman. cute. my own art is narrative, if surreal, so your theory is wrong. And though I make narrative work, I'm capable of appreciating artwork with different aims.

Art doesn't have to tell a story. That's only one goal out of many. I understand that the kind of art you enjoy is narrative, but that doesn't mean it's a universal truth.
