A better analogy would be that there's a large pack of dogs presented with a beautifully cooked and garnished steak on their left and a bowl of cheap kibble on their right that happened to be poured into that bowl by a heavily tattooed and body-modded MtF transexual. Every day, whenever the dogs make a move towards the steak some guy wearing beret blows into a dog whistle and yells at them, chastising them for their "poor taste" until the time comes that they give up and start eating the kibble without even considering the steak.

The only way OP could possibly be "financially stable" making 1 to 2/3rds the national minimum wage with a maxed out credit card and 4 years of art college debt is if he still lives off of the parents whose life savings he carelessly squandered to learn how to make finger paintings.
