Multiply is definitely the easiest way but just use a different color on the layer. Start with a pastel purple to block in your shadows, make another overlay layer and bush in some oranges. Adjust the opacity as needed then paint ontop of it as needed

Also like other anon said, color your lines so they're not as harsh

I tried to emulate Kyle at first, pic related. Basically, after a rough sketch, I started to use more layers in sai, multiply for values, overlay for color/scattering, and luminosity for highlights. Also used the water tool for blending and rendering
