I've been trying to learn to draw on and off again for several years and I don't feel like I've learned anything whenever I try. A friend told me to just start with Fun With a Pencil but I've been doing the first few exercises and it doesn't feel like I'm doing anything right. Every time I look at anything I produce, it just looks like shit and I don't know what to do. It also feels like I get the same meaningless platitudes over and over. "Just draw. Just stick with it. Just learn anatomy." None of this really means anything to me and I wind up losing motivation to where I drop it, only to try yet again in vain some time later.
