Look up William-Adolphe Bouguereau. His technique for ethereal skin tone involves many layers of glazing thin, translucent color. This was incredibly time consuming in oil, but his emulators now have the option of LAYERS via digital programs. Multiple layers of blended, low opacity colors over an “Underpainting” of flat grayscale values can produce a similar result.
Once you have lots of translucent layers built up, you can also erase bits here and there to let the colors underneath shine through with more strength. Layer blending modes also allow you shortcuts to more luminous qualities. It will take more layers than you think, and it will look unpleasant until it pops into focus all at once; it will surprise you.

For figurative sketching (and concepts for oil painting), I recommend Vlippu and Huston. There’s a reason you hear about them so much here. New Masters Academy is a site with extremely extensive classes by them for 35 dollars a month. It’s worth it, but overwhelming if you are not prepared to dedicate a lot of time to it.

Good luck anon.

"tracing does not mean drawing line for line"

what does it mean then?

i think tracing is a useful motivator for when youre at the very start of your journey, when you cant draw for shit and everything you do frustrates you because it looks bad, tracing some good drawings lets you see that you can make something good you just dont have the technique yet. honestly after tracing a couple moving on to copying is an ok way to start out in my book because you learn inarticulable parts of drawing through mimicry. still eventually, no tracing is not a good way to learn and you're better off with still life and photographic reference.
