You can make OEL manga that reads like any average scanlation.
You can go a step further and have the script translated into JP so it would be- for all intents and purpose- a "real" manga.
OR you could go the SaturdayAM route and make American graphic novels but guilt and shame people into calling it manga for the marketing optimization. Reminder that those people are the same types who complain of "culture vultures" anywhere else.
