Any critique for this line sketch before I start adding values?

I don't think it's as bad as the person grading it says, but s/he is right on most points. You put a lot of effort into hatching that is admirable, but ultimately not necessary. In terms of lineweight yes, increase weight/thickness in places where edges intersect or come together, and omit the lines altogether where there is a lot of light. (like you do on the left shoulder. try that for the nose.) Your proportions seem good, but you should try to use more 'soft edges' in lieu of the hard and unrealistic ones you have on the face.

Nice Darkseid. Before anything else, don't forget to lower the size of your images to ~1000px x (height) before posting - makes it easier on all of us. Now, you have some problems with foreshortening(DS's leg just looks larger instead of closer). To fix this, add some more line variation to objects that are closer, more shadowed, or bunched up.

Looks awesome - can never draw mechs/suits that well, myself. Nice sketchy style, are you planning on taking this any farther?

Cool. Looks a bit over-polished/way too much makeup, but I haven't seen the reference picture. You've clearly learned how to draw eyes, but the highlights in the bottom lid seem overly bright in comparison to the eye itself. Even if the reference picture is that way, generally you want to add the areas of highest contrast in the places you want the most attention from viewers. Just a thought. It's looking quite plain without any values/texture/etc on it right now.

Looking nice, from the thumbnail it's coming along well. However, you can probably make the alien look like it has more depth by playing around with colors. In the shadow casted by his jaw, his skin wouldn't just get a darker shade of green; for example, try adding complimentary colors and mixing in a touch of red with the overall goal of making that area more purple. See what happens.
