It seems to me like it’s coming from the front as well, but when copying bridgeman don’t get too caught up in stuff like this. The main goal is to understand how to draw bones/muscles so if you gain something in that regard you’re fine. He has a lot of lines and things you may not understand but just know when you see it and move on accordingly.

Pic rel. is my attempt at the hand as I’m copying bridgeman as well. Make sure to draw everything you see. As for your drawing, it looks rushed and unfinished. If you’re going to copy it, copy it thoroughly. Hatch the thumb nail, add some knuckles, add some overlaps, etc. Analyze what bridgeman is doing way more than you currently are.
