Has anybody else had trouble with "overthinking" a drawing?

For the past 5 or so years I've noticed that I've been thinking more and more about the more technical aspects of a drawing, like the anatomy and proportions and staying on-model and whatnot. While that on its own isn't a bad thing, I seem to be thinking about it too much and forget that drawing is supposed to be """"fun"""" and to let shit flow out naturally. Basically I've become an extreme perfectionist to the point where I'm strangling my own drawing capability and not getting anything done.

I've found that the less I think about the drawing and the more I just fucking draw, the more fun I have with the drawing and the more satisfied I am with the end-result. It feels like when I deliberately shut most of my brain off, things come out better and that just seems very strange to me.

Maybe I just need to fucking chill, but at the same time I worry that my drawing skills will get worse if I DON'T think about the more technical aspects enough.

>mfw looking through attempts from january

I'm not sure if I should be happy I can draw things now that don't make me almost vomit in revulsion or I should vomit in revulsion looking at the old drawings?

>>Use your whole arm while drawing
I cannot draw a nice looking circle without using my whole arm, if I just rotate my wrists and fuck about with my fingers I'm going to achieve a ball of goo.

It has never been "stupid useless advice", you're just bluntly following advice without understanding if you have the pre-requirements and needs for this.

If someone suggests that you use a machine to drill a hole into a piece of wood, but you lack the machine, this doesn't make the advice shit. And if you're stuck on one style forever, you're going to get bored now or then, while consistency is nice, trying new things has NEVER been bad.

And fuck, dude, what's wrong with being confident about your drawings?
