Folds happen where the material gets compressed this happens at places where there is little space for them or one side of the material gets stretched so the other one is compressed. It also happens if it gets pinched together. Think of this and find the places where this happens. On your picture this happens under the armpits and between the legs possibly a bit at the the sides if the character is really fat.

This is true for all materials by the way, paper, plastic, rubber you name it. However if the material is rigid it will tear or break to pieces sooner before folds get formed.
