AI just killed art for me. Now I can either try to figure something out myself or prompt whatever and flick through a dozen of Dall-E Mini iterations till the machine delivers something I like. But, what's really the difference between both? Aren't we doing the exact same process? This feel exactly like calculating by hand in math, with the exception that in math solving each of the equations is not the end itself, but a step towards it. In art, however, composing is the end, through which rendering is the mean, activity that right now is halfway through complete automation. Composing is machine territory. "Your" picture of the idea is not different from "its" picture of the idea, leaving you with rendering the idea (whatever its origin), process that always felt to me mechanical: first add the base tones, next paint the ambient occlusion, in a new layer add the key shadow, continue by adding the reflective lights, add details, make some small changes and so on and so forth. I can't help but feel like just another gear in the mechanical task of doing art.
