So i have been going through a lot of master tier paintings lately. The values, shapes and colors with especially environment and clothing are breathtaking. But i noticed that many old artist didn't convey emotion that well, and the faces looked pretty stale and uninteresting. Was this some kind of globally accepted style at the time?
