it's mostly a mix of automotive parts, industrial factory parts, construction, military, robotics, architecture, etc.

The key is to think in terms of shapes. most things are warped and modified cubes, cylinders, and spheres. if you see a boxy ergonomic shape on literally any mechanical device it could become anything from a gun to a starship.

you only have to think logically for moving parts. anatomy and simple articulation on things like door hinges, joints desk lamps, prosthetics, etc. Help with this. it's pretty common sense. make sure the design has everything it needs to move the way you want.

i'd recommend looking at diagrams of vehicles and machinery but if you're in a rush i'd say just study the mechanical artists on a website like ArtStation, THEN move into diagrams.
