I try to adjust proportions to my subject but I still struggle with seeing the construction under my reference and getting the rotation/perspective/planes right, I hope its just a matter of practicing more. Thanks for answering.

Thank you, anon. And yeah, that's what I saw in my reference (here's the pic, I tried thinking of her head as a box), I think it has to do with the face being both above and below my eye level/horizon, but I pushed it too far and ended up distorting the face a bit haha.
