Drop the photoshop coloring right now. You are already on the deviantart-tier track with slapping on things like that smoke and ground pattern. It looks hideous and amounts to turd polishing... I almost feel if you continued this there would be a lensflare somewhere in there.

I'm not going to comment on the 2EDGY design, but ill say that you have to go back to fundamentals hard. The whole drawing makes no sense and the upper and lower body are different proportions and perspective. The upperarms are twig-like and then seem to grow out into forearms. The legs are huge compared to the rest of the body and the torso looks flat and caved in. Basically it looks like you just copied a reference for one part and just winged the rest. You seem to know nothing about the construction or underlying form and thats why it looks so sloppy.

There are plenty of resources in this thread that a few anons wrote and I think you need to read them unless you want to permanently be stuck doing middleschool-tier artwork.

I talked to an animation teacher at Sheridan many years back and he said that knowing how to draw, perspective, construction ect ect should be a no-brainer but he still sees endless people/applicants who fail at many of the basics and think that they can become animators.

He was mentioning one of the tests he did was an assignment where someone walks from one side of the room to the other in perspective, and many students fuck it up and make the character too small or tall for the doorway at the end.

Another thing to add to the whole anime thing is it isn't the style they hate, its the over reliance on it and its the only thing that many people can draw or should I say fake and don't get the underlying construction or how things were simplified and just copy contour of several set poses. What buttblasts many deviantards is making them draw different styles and actually having them come up with their own poses/construction and not draw the same 3/4 view face poses that they are so comfortable with. Also they take critiques badly and very personally since they were raised in internet hugboxes.
