You're right that the very technical books like H2D and H2R are off putting, but that's why pme is included, as a primer. Gurney's book is so often recommended I'm considering adding it, thanks for pointing it out. Also I don't mean essential to mean "required", just excellent books in their class you can't go wrong with learning from.

I'd like to avoid Right Side because every time it's mentioned it kicks up a lot of shit. This chart is for and by /ic/ and so it has to be made with regards to /ic/'s culture. I like it too, really, but I still think Keys is the better book to recommend. It's more beginner friendly because it's mostly not even about accuracy, it's about observation and seeing things as an artist.

I'd like to keep Fun With a Pencil for the same reason, it is very beginner friendly and even if it doesn't teach strict fundamentals it encourages the habit of drawing which is the most important part of gitting gud. His other books all have material covered by other books on the list. I could add "Succesful Drawing" but that basically /is/ pme, which Loomis also recommends in fdfaiw. But only fwap can fill its own niche.

Thank you both for your feedback!
