I agree. What you have there is a combination of wet sand/clay/whatever slowly flowing into the room combined with drier, more sandy parts. Your drawing doesn't follow the flow of the original, and ends up looking a bit unnatural. As if the pile was not formed by its weight guiding the direction, but as if someone kept hitting it with a shovel to make it flat and even. Also, because you left the lower parts without detail, it looks as if the entire thing was wet, which once again would contradict its actual shape, where those parts take the shape of trickling semi-dry sand.

Or something like that.
