As your dad sounds just like me (just I don't watch TV, I'm on 4chan, instead)... I'm even also an EE and only keep contact with very few people. Close friends, family, my girlfriend.

Why is he dead inside? Well he hates gay people. he isolates himself from the world. To me it is clear, as I see the same reactions from myself. he's probably a disgruntled conservative. His ideals died a long time ago. he's the last survivor of an ideological world. Try to see the world from his perspective: there is a witch-hunt against traditionalists and paleoconservatives. the world out there is ridiculous, the laws make no sense, the economy suffers from all the leftliberal mismanagement, your cultural heritage (what matters most to those people) is irreversibly destroyed. I don't know how old you are, but you most likely have not lived in those "ye good olde times". The West is degenerate and ridiculous and there is no place for people with old ideals. We lost the fight and now we just wait to die. Deep inside we know it's over. there won't be a revolution and civilization will not be rebuild. Everything will go down the drain, because the new generation will not be raised by our kind. The idea will not be carried on.

The "progressives" will celebrate for a while before finding new outrageous things, before finding the new victim (it's just about victims in their politics), the new Feindbild. Soon there will be One Race, One Government, One Justice. All on some kind of basic living fund support by the media-elected ruling class. No one will ever oppose anything, because fighting, self-sacrifice, violence and taking risks is not part of the progressivists toolbox... and why would he oppose, really?

It's over.

You may celebrate now, but I doubt your grandchildren will thank you (this is more directed at everyone here, as we artists are even more liberal and progressive than all the other liberals and progressives).
