>Draw in pen, or draw in pencil with no eraser.
I did that a lot when starting out. If you're curious, I started with keys to drawing, did all the exercises in that (I didn't draw one of the 3 trees, and I still feel bad about that...), and got great results very fast, but that kind of observational drawing is very different from imagination drawing, and if I did that, I'd always end up with a mess of lines I couldn't manage, so I doubt that's the answer here. I'm not saying it's not a good idea, I'm just saying I'm garbo, and would never get anything done.

>'Sketching', insofar as it has any definition, is where an artist draws something without paying too much mind as to how polished it is.
Ok, then that's not what I meant. What would you call something that's supposed to be eventually turned into a final, finished, piece, then? That's what I'm looking for.

Ok, thanks, I'm going to try this, wish me patience, anon. I know loomis (at least in keys to drawing), uses this style of "draw, then erase till light, and then draw again", which is basically what you're refering to, so maybe I'll check the book out again.
