Some gesture/drawings without ref. Please feel free to tell me how stiff/out of perspective/shit they are.

How much reference is too much when doing gestures or poses? Like if I take the angle and gesture and redraw it myself with whatever character etc is that exactly fair? I always just see some very interesting poses in art that I just have a hell of a time understanding how the artist constructed it (probably because I'm just bad at gestures).

You really should just take the idea of the face from the Pietà, make her eyes half closed looking down. Just an idea since the opened eye look seems a bit weird.
