Hey dude, like the others said, i think you need to solve some things compositionally, decide what is most important in the picture. There is no need to polish a picture that doesnt work cohesively, or tell the story you want to tell, else you will just end up with a well rendered failure. I think you are facing one of the most important lessons in artmaking, usually referred to as "Kill your darlings" if the sphere doesnt work, get rid of it, if the foreground doesnt work, get rid of it, if the figures are out of place, or whatever - get rid of them. dont settle for compromises, be ruthless.

Anyway, i had a little fun with your image, and i got a little carried away, so sorry for butchering it completely. i thought of a little story, maybe this guy sitting behind the pillar is stealing treasures from this ruin thats guarded by a dragon (oh wow guys, have you ever heard anything that original) anyway, i tried to simplify things more, and in this case use the working FG and get rid of the sphere.
One point in getting a little story going for yourself, is that painting gets way more fun, you start relating with that guy sitting there. I know that my example is kind of shitty, because its so fantasy clicheed, but you get the point, so all in all: You need to figure out what you want to say with that piece, and arrange the whole according to that single idea, you dont want things to compete, ever (unless you totally want things to compete ofcourse ;) )

Have a good day! and keep painting (and by all means, it is not bad to spend a lot of time trying to figure out a painting, but make some critical choices and grab yourself by the balls!)
