draw from photos until you are good enough, then go to life drawing. Life drawing has many drawbacks, the lighting might suck, you might not be comfortable , maybe there is noise distracting you, maybe you dont have enough time , it costs money etc.

With photos you can take your time to draw. But try to pick good photos where there is a visible shadow/light boundary
