Who gives a shit if you can paint great stuff while looking at a reference or a model but then the second you draw to draw from imagination this happens

I don't want to just make pretty pictures so other people will jerk me off. Thats not the dream, thats not why i started drawing. I want to be able to draw what I see in my mind.

Theres tons of beg traps but one of the most memed on in this board and or any other plataform even in non art focused ones is.... JUST DRAW, jesus where do i begin with this, i could make an entire thread just off this one, but to keep it simple, just mindlessly drawing won't get you anywhere, you do need to draw to get gud duh, but the problem with doing it for the sake of it is what makes it useless, is your art goig to be exactly the same 10 years from now if you do this? no, but whatever progress you make is going to be so little that you would be better off just practicing boxes, and this brings me to the COPE excuse that comes along with just draw, that not everyone is an asian workhorse that draws 10h a day so you shouldn't worry if you are not progressing ''fast'', we all progress differently but theres tresholds that we should surpass and that requires putting effort and brains, just drawing doesn't have any of these.

The vast majority of """"art teachers"""" are godawful themselves. If they were actually good at their craft, they would make a living off their art instead of having to teach it.

I finished Proko's Anatomy, now what do I do?

I'm supposed to be writing a programming regimen for drawing, like I've did years ago with weight loss, but I ended up goofing off today.
I know I have it in me to make the program and commit to it, since I completed my fitness regimen years ago, but I cant seem to do anything right now but stew listlessly, everyday.

My insomnia is sabotaging my ability to work, but the only thing I can think of at 5 AM is boredom, not sleep.

Why do people who teach art tend to be bad at it themselves? Why do true masters of art never seem to be the ones trying to teach anyone?

Once you get that, everything about him starts to make sense.

This is true regardless of him claiming the opposite. He isn't teaching for people that want to draw comics or manga from imagination.

He is teaching atelier stuff, and yes many atelier artist do draw from imagination, but your typical boomer student there is just there to copy heavily from referece to do portraits and landscapes to have something for a gallery or impress normies.

I'm not saying it's bad, but those are two vastly different skills. This is why imho a lot of people have trouble digesting proko's content. There's a lot of overlap, but ultimately It's not meant for people that want to just draw wafus from imagination.

Before that I honestly though Proko had everything memorized. It frankly discouraged me. As, in his lessons, he expect you to learn super complex and complicated shapes that would make scott robertson blush.

Say his nose shape thing is hard to memorize:
