Neither of these faggots but what they're trying to tell you is that instead of having a thousand yard neutral stare looking at a random spot in space we suggest to have the figure look at the viewer or focus on an object of interest in order to compose a concept and help get a message across to communicate to the viewer.

Don't fall for the same trap beginners do when avoiding the hands by avoiding having the eyes focused and drawing them staring off in space.
