obviously i dont know your power level but if i presume you are fresh beg then studying anatomy will only waste your time and burn you out. Anatomy is recommended (by 2 different art books) only to artists who get a keen interest on the topic. And as beg you should be doing other stuff like grinding observation, feeling the forms and gesture. Anatomy book on itself is good guide for when you want to draw some specific pose of figure and you cannot figure it out how it should be

1. you will also need charcoal and anything see through which you can write on with permanent marker to construct view-finder

the left one looks better because your inability to draw straight lines accidentally produces slightly bent lines which follow cross contours of cylinder. tldr left implies form is rounded, right implies deformed box
