Like 80% accuracy. It depends a lot on what you’re doing. Like if you’re studying the colors or doing a value breakdown or like a compositional study, that’s gonna be different than if you’re trying to learn someone’s hatching style, which will be different from learning someone’s underlying construction techniques. But for just doing copies (which you should be doing lots of) aim for about 80% accuracy.

Start with a basic observational drawing course. Learn to draw what you see and not what you think you see. I like Betty Edwards’s book, but there’s a bunch of em out there. Proko, Eviston, keys to drawing, krenz, whatever jives with you. Once you can see, then you can study whatever. But you gotta be able to see.
