Almost anything. Buy whatever's easily accessible and affordable enough that you won't mind burning through it. Go to your local art supply store and look at the cheapest sketchbooks that are decently bound and have paper with some tooth.
These Canson ones are cheap, durable and pretty good for pencil, but there are probably dozens of others that are just as good in the same price range.
