Is there any "recommended" order of learning the basics or so? I get sorta worried I'd start one thing, not get anywhere because I learned stuff out of order, get upset and forget it.

been doing pic related, when do you move on from a book like fun with a pencil? I could copy the drawings for weeks, but I have just been practising setting up the construction.

I recommend following this. Successful drawing talks a lot about basic shapes and applying light to create forms, which is something that is relevant to everything you draw.
