It stuns me that in something so ostensibly pure and beautiful like art, there are enormous skill barriers between artists, and those on the bottom are destined to just feel that pain over and over, just trying to make something beautiful. I hate the fact that there are winners and losers in the art world.

Why? Why does art have to be hard? Why does beauty have to be a deliberate effort, a walking contradiction? Shouldn't something truly beautiful be effortless, existing naturally instead of some desperately-labored combination of lines on a page? Nature doesn't have to try to be beautiful, it just is. No waterfall or fjord ever *tried* to be beautiful. Are we just fucking stupid for clinging onto this fake stuff, this artificial beauty? It's a bunch of goddamn lines on a page.

I dunno man. I thought art would be this fun little escape from the real world. But it's the same old shit I came here to escape -- the same arenas, same battles, same divisions. The people who are blessed to be good at it, and those who are not. And if this is gonna be the whole setting, I just don't want it anymore. I don't want to participate in this kind of stuff. Don't praise me for natural talent, don't praise me for a handsome face. I did nothing to earn it. It's all a wash, man. I just want to save all the NGMIs in the world, to give them something to hold onto. And let all this stuff go.
