I know this is more of a /co/ thread but I feel like anybody here who's looked at his work knows how great of a draftsman he was. One of the first artists I was exposed to as a kid that had any skill, and considering how rare such constant display of both competency and timeliness has become in the comics industry it's sad to see one of the last of an old breed die out. RIP
(he also kickstarted an entire generation's worth of nerds' obsession with redheads, I think)
