Sorry for bringing this up again but i'm practicing and just noticed. If i'm training drawing by reference and all that stuff. Do i need to build like a stickman for it or do i just straight draw it?

So should i keep drawing by reference or should i read keys of drawing and learn how to "draw by observation" right away? I'm having kinda mixed signals since some just say to draw by reference until i hit a wall and other say to study books...
