when you refine you lineart you probably just trace over your drawing with a consisted 1 px line, thats what takes away the energy in the piece, try using line wheight (or scott robertson's atmospheric persective)

look for darkest parts of the body, where shadows are, thats where you use the most pressure and darkests lines, where light is directly hitting the form is where you use your lightest touch
it all goes along values and light source of the form too
you are basically shading with the contours
you are also drawing in digital, so you can do one loose line, if it doesnt work, use ctrl+z until you get it right eventually you will have the same energy as the original
