whatever you want, but remember that you need to keep the consistency in the shit that's all, if you are gonna make shadows keep them logical, dont use blurred brushes if you are not gonna do realism or shit, and if you do then keep them delimited as you do cel-shading with a hard brush, defining the shapes correctly and not randomly.
The most easy to do right know should be taking more time to do correctly the lines, for the painting yeah any way you want, with a solid linework should look ok as long as you don't start inventing things.
