I do offer different "tiers", from a simple lineart for 10 bucks up to more complex scenes starting at 50.

When starting out a few months ago, I had to advertise myself every day on at least 10 different places (Discord, Twatter, Plebbit, commission and YCH auction websites) for 3 weeks just to get my first commission: a $65 painting that went pretty well, very satisfied customer, sent me a pic of it hanging on his wall.

Then I kept advertising for another 2 weeks until another dude showed up wanting a 15 buck commission. The same dude would end up commissioning me another 2 times for another $15 each - which means another satisfied customer, right?

I kept advertising myself for another 2 weeks and nothing whatsoever came up. So I gave up doing it because the advertising game is VERY TIRING and it's not drawing.

One month later a random dude showed up and he wanted one of the big $50 commissions. I did it, he seemed very happy about it. "I'll tell all my friends about yout!!"
Last month a random dude on Discord on a random non-art-related Discord server I'm at asked if anyone knew some avatar artists, I offered my services and got another $30.

That's a whopping $190 in 5 months, wouldn't cover my bills for a month if I lived by myself.
I would say it was decent money for a beginner and the total time I spent actually drawing, but it was not worth all the time investment trying to make people buy it in the first place.
