it depends on the type of art you are looking at. a lot of contempary cartoony art has upper+lower lip drawn, like in steven universe, which was inspired by shojo anime

does anyone have any advice for otherwise making a scan line drawing good?

example, when i scan something in, it has the ink and the paper both a little bit greyish. how do i make the ink black and the paper white?
