-writing shit down that you don't want to forget
-figure studies
-getting yourself out of an art slump
-thumbnails for finished artwork
-drawing a sketch so you can scan it and finish digitally
-exploring new styles and/or process of drawing
-drawing things you haven't drawn before
-polished sketches, if you're going to be showing it to other people

I used to burn through 80+ pages a month, but have slowed down to about 40 nowadays.
