>buy a couple dozen conte 1710 Bs
>half of them crumble as I sharpen them and are completely useless

Used 5 so far. 2 could not be sharpened at all, and 2 worked flawlessly, 1 worked perfectly until I got halfway down and then it started to crumble as well.

What the fuck.

>try to visualize a composition
>can only think of blurry tripe
>create thumbnails that are laughably bad just to have something to draw
>usually trash it before I ever get close to finishing the piece
>in the few cases where I manage to start something it's absolute shit and I trash it
>go back to practicing gesture/figure quick sketches
