literally just pick whatever looks cool/ most relevant to what you want. Out of all the stuff that gets recommended, very few are THAT "advanced", and you'll probably know immediately.

Also just looking at the fucking titles you can tell -- maybe don't start with "alla prima", but try reading "how to draw" instead

Hello, /ic/. I've recently decided I want to make it so I picked up How to Draw and How to Render by Scott Robertson. First off, how the hell do I apply any of what he's saying? Am I supposed to build a perspective grid for every single drawing I make? Can his information readily be applied to organic forms? I get that he likes drawing cars and environments, but what about people?

TL;DR, will grinding his exercises by making perspective grids and drawing houses and cars and shit make me better at drawing "freehand", without (or with few) perspective and construction lines, or is this my new reality? Because otherwise this feels very much like cheating and kind of takes the soul out of drawing for me.

I feel like a huge piece of shit for asking, but does anyone have a torrent for this book? TPB is down and my googlefu is too weak to find it anywhere else

And is it a good first book? I can't say I've ever really drawn anything in my life, so I don't have even the slightest fundamentals.

Is Scott Robertson's book valuable outside of drawing vehicles/buildings?

Will it help if I want to learn how to draw people?

What kind of stuff does robertson go into that i wouldn't learn from Keys to Drawing? is How to Draw at the beginner level?

I've only read the first 5 chapters, right before shit gets real, but man, Scott Robertson's 'How To Draw' has just changed everything already. Had to put it on the backburner just to digest it, I'm so excited to get back to it.

Steve Huston's videos on New Masters Academy also helped me shitloads. Can't wait to check out his book next year.

I just realized that I've spent the better part of a year just drawing basically the same thing over and over, and therefore making shitty progress, so now I want to learn the fundamentals from the ground up. what are some good books/resources for this? I was thinking of buying How to draw, are there any other books like it that are also good?

Hey guys, I recently bought Scott Robertson's How to Draw and I'm a little confused by something.

On page 25 he talks about drawing boxes on the same ground plane rotated at different degrees.

He then says,
"A common error is to cause a rotated object to look like it's floating above the ground or is tilted. This is caused by not matching the Vanishing Points to the same Cone of Vision."

Maybe it's completely obvious but I'm not technically minded at all and am a little confused about matching VPs to the same cone of vision.

What does this mean?
Is he referring to using a 60 degree cone of vision for 2 point perspective, 50 degree CoV for 1 point etc.? or is there something else I'm missing?

So I got this book, and there's a notice at the beginning saying that certain pages have a "play button" and the link at the end of the book will provide the entire play list.

Going to that link... where is the play list?

Hey OP, have you got a better copy of pic related? Many of the pages are indecipherable due to bad scanning.

I thought of getting this book.
Is it worth the 30 bucks?
Does it compliment Hampton's Figure Drawing book?
Is it a good start for learning how to perspective?
