You've got it right. I'll keep that in mind while drawing. I'm also making sure to analyze the drawing while I draw like Vilppu said.

It's just hard to apply some concepts in Fun with a Pencil because anatomy is clearly coming into play in his drawings and I haven't comprehensively delved into that yet.

I finally understand why there's always vague advice when it comes to getting proficient at drawing: There's just so many areas of art that come into play you need to truly understand each area as much as possible to have a great drawing. It's amazing how a picture appears simple and natural on the surface but in actuality depicts years of practice, hard work, and mastery.
