The sketch phase is full of energy because it’s experimental and fun and the artist has sketched enough to have confidence

The render is usually where people freeze up, stiffen and stop being free and loose, because there are so many variables, the work has to be so much tighter, and the artist lacks the experience.

It’s like riding a bicycle vs a Kawasaki ninja. A lot more variables and room to fall on the second, even though they are very related.

That’s what makes a master so impressive - they have 100,000 hours under their belt so they can execute all of the stages and variables of a render with the same confidence and lucidity some nigger sketches with
