Dude, you have a big problem dealing with cartoon proportions, forget about texture and realism for a moment and try to keep things simple round and clean, I know it is counterintuitive but when it comes to cartoons ease of read and simplycity are key.
Take pic related as an example, it's nothing but basic spheres and tube shapes but it's still appealing
