The vast vast VAST majority of an artist’s output is delivered to the internet for free and piracy is the easiest shit ever for shit gated behind patreon or whatever.
And honestly, not gatekeeping enough is what’s led us here anyway. If we didn’t pump the internet full of free shit it wouldn’t have gotten scraped by AIs and used to replicate/replace us. If we gatekept aesthetics harder we wouldn’t have this “anything can be art” nonsense weaponized against us.
Gatekeeping was honestly a good thing and we failed, and get called gatekeepers anyway. Which is less insulting and more baffling.
