For many people yes, that's why they can't get off to their own work. A drawing just becomes a representation of many hours of work and the initial appealing idea is lost behind lots of work.
That's how I see my own stuff and then when I take a bit of time off and come back to it, I see things I could have done better and it becomes something of a regret on top of lots of work.
