/ic/ - Artwork/Critique

Very stupid question here, but when people are learning, do they just (in addition to studying) draw shit from imagination and wing it in the hopes that it will come out good or is there a better way to do it?

Whenever I try it ends up terrible because I can't seem to properly picture how everything fits together.
