Because you have more of a cartoonish style to your work, I would suggest you try out a shading technique that's called cut-edge, or think more along the lines of Batman The Animated Series. I think your work will definitely benefit from more simple styles of shading rather than an airbrushed look. Simplify your shadows to just the flat colors and one shadow color. Hope this helps.
