It's a neurodevelopmental disorder. You can't "cure" how people's brains are hardwired to interpret and perceive sensory information. Treatment is built around teaching them how to be functional first. And high functioning autists can be capable of huge industrial innovations when society learns to work with them instead of around them. The idea that you need to be "cured" from something that can ultimately benefit humanity is silly.

Honestly it's pretty fucked up how parents are willing to risk an outbreak of fucking polio because they're so escared of goddamn autism.

Like yeah their childhood is a lot less pleasant and they're shitting their pants a lot longer than normie babies but when you create environments for them to thrive in they can accomplish amazing things. There's a lot of benefits to being narrowly focused on specific things, which is often what autists get into. Temple Grandin and her hugbox shit changed the livestock industry for instance.

Autists don't need to be cured they need to be enabled. They're the closest thing we have to x-men.
